The average value of the reproduction rate in fermentation (R ferm ), the carrying capacity (K in number of cells per mL), the cell size (Scell in μm), and the yield (Y ferm = K × Scell) at the end of the fermentation process is reported for each habitat of origin. Significance of differences was assessed by HSD Tukey tests. Levels that are not connected by the same letter are significantly different.
